It’s Thursday folks! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!

This is going to be a short post b/c i’m running late for the start of my day.  I fell asleep yesterday while watching tv, then i just got up and went to bed.  I forgot all about Thursday in my sleepy haze. hahaha  but i’ll post some knitting later on today when i get a chance!

 

Since I am a new homeowner, I needed tools to do some basic things around the house!  Yeah i had a hammer here and there…a screwdriver here and there….but where was it all?  everywhere b/c i didn’t have a bag to put it all in! hahahah!  I found this gem at WALMART of all places and I had to get it.  Normally i hate it when tools are pink b/c it’s like “oh look.  let’s try to sell to girls and make it all pink so they will think it’s a fashion accessory!”   yeah…uh….i fell in love w/ the bag b/c of the shade of pinks it was   hahahah!  I didn’t notice that there were pink tools inside until i was on the other side of the store.  hahahah.  I thought they were just normal color tools.  BONUS!

I havne’t knit that much in the last week i’m sorry to say.  I am almost finished w/ the scarf that my friend Angi asked me to make for her brother. hehehe.  i think i have like 6 inches left and then im’ done!  more posts on actual knitting later

What have I been knitting lately?

one of my knit grrls, Angi, asked me to knit a scarf for a gift for her brother.  I accepted the challenge. hahaa so far so good.  i hate these needles though.  I like the needles themself, but i hate the dangling cord.  it’s driving me nuts!!

So i’ve been focused on something else rather than knitting.  I finally got it all put together….

Isn’t it beautiful?  i finally bought a stand for it and with some help from a friend, got it all set up.  now i just need to figure out how to cast on!!  i love turning the handle.  it makes a cool click click sound.   Marvel in its glory! hahahah

Hey all!  it’s Thursday!!

Why do i have a Smallville bag you ask?  When i went to Comic Con last year, they were handing these out if you stood in line.  Well, my friends, brother and I cheated and we cut in line and got one. hahaha  it’s a very large bag as you can see   i saw people wrapping it around their bodies at Comic Con and walking around.  i meant to sell it on ebay once i got home.  i forgot.  i found it in all my stuff as I was moving. hahaha.  anyone want it?  I’ll mail it to you as long as you pay for postage!  first class mail?  should be like $1.50 to mail once it’s all folded up.  i’m not even a Smallville fan! I just wanted the bag! hahahaha

This is a sleepy time post. I don’t know why i wait til the last min to blog, b/c by now i’m kind of delirious.  heheh  well, i didn’t finish the yellow sweater in time for the shower on Sunday?  Why?  b/c i didn’t make the efffort to try to finish it. hahahah whooooops.  but i finished it that night after the shower. oh well. i’ll give it when the baby is born!

HELLLOOO ZOE!!! The sweater has no buttons on it. i am lazy at this point in the night and not willing to sew them on right now.  sleepy.   but i’ll take more pics of it when i’ve got that finished.  thing needs a yo-yo and a matching hat!

CURRAN is the only one that guessed what it is. it’s an Antique Sock Machine!   I haven’t finished trying to put it together.  so until then you get to see the original picture.  I’ll take pics as I go along.  But i’m so excited to actually get to try and use this!

HELLLO EVERYONE!  it’s THURSDAY!  WHOO HOOOO!!

Here is this week’s bag!

So i got this bag at SteinMart.   Why was I there, you ask?  I wanted to see if they had any nice clothes I could buy.  NADA.  NOTHING.  that place is SOOO overpriced!  I used to go there alot to buy purses.  So i did peruse that area.  NADA.  I walk past the check out stations and I see this bag there, asking us to help save the Earth by using re-useable bags.  I am glad that there is this movement to go toward reuseable bags.  I actually love that the stores have finally caught on.  But everywhere I go now, I see the bags for sale.  Now it’s like HIP to try to not produce so much garbage.  I swear i’m not trying to be hip when i get these bags.  hahahaah!  But this bag was there at the check-out station and I just had to have one. it’s super cute and roomy!!  they called this a lunch bag.  haah ! whatever! it’s a bit too large to be a lunch sack!

My dreaded weekend has come and gone and I am SO SO happy it’s all over.  I feel like a great burden has been lifted off my shoulders.  I can breathe again.  I didn’t look too shabby being Maid of Honor in a purple monstrosity.  hahaha.  Will I post a picture?  Maybe.  I need to find one where I’m not w/ my friends b/c they would be mad if I stuck their pics online w/o their permission.  photoshop you say?  just cut them out?  yeah…that requires some work i’m not willing to do right now. I will say this…it wasn’t AS BAD as I anticipated.  It was very chaotic and i have to say, some people really need to work on their social manners.  some people are just RUDE! but it’s all finished.  I’m so happy

I didn’t knit on the plane.  didn’t knit a stitch.  I did knit in my hotel room when I could have been downstairs gambling.   I even entertained the idea of watching some friends gamble and knitting while watching them.  I didn’t want people to stare at me. hahaahah.  But I realized that it’s now Thursday and I need to have this baby sweater done by Sunday for a baby shower! AAAAAAAH!  I cast on last Friday for the EZ February sweater.  I’ve gotten most of the increase rows finished.    I need to step it up!  i am such a slacker!!

I did something very very naughty last week and the fruits of my naughty-ness arrived in the mail yesterday.  Let’s see if you guys can guess what this is…

Hello All! it’s Thursday! Time for another bag!

Isn’t this cute? i got it on sale many moons ago and I found it while packing and moving. hehehee. it’s a good little travel wrislet too. Room for tickets, money, cards and passport! WHOO HOOO!

I’m finally finished moving all my crap into my house. NOw i just need to unpack. sigh. that’s not too bad. I threw away alot of things and i’m proud of myself for doing that. I need to throw away more. Somethings made it past 1st cut…now it’s time to make 2nd cuts. hahaha.

I’ve still been working on my doily shawl intermittently. I got a baby shower invitation the other day for Sun, April 27th. That means I have a little over a week to make an EZ Feb. sweater. I picked the yarn It’s for a little girl..but I thought a little yellow would be nice.

Do you see those socks sitting next to the Flash? Those are Kathy’s socks. i’ve owed them to her since May. I’m so embarrassed to admit I owe people bday socks. at least i found these. These were lost at sea for almost a year. YIKES!

This weekend is my friend’s wedding weekend. THe wedding of…bridezilla. The wedding i have been waiting to get over with for over 18 months. one of the longest engagements ever. there have been so many shenanigans. I’m pretty tired of all the crap and i’m ready for it all to end. I showed some friends my bridesmaid dress today after I picked it up from getting it altered. The looks on their faces was priceless. I wish i had my camera out. It’s truly a purple monstrosity.

Everyone have a good weekend. Pray I don’t murder someone in CA this weekend. Does CA have insanity laws to protect me? HAHAHAAH

Hello all.

I’m barely awake enough to do this post I had a long day of making a mountain out of garbage bags full of my tons of stuff!  Just another couple of days and I will be done!

nevertheless.  I still found time this week for a new purse   TEEE HEEEEE

How do you like my new bag?  It’s SUPER CUTE!  and it’s totally a fake Burberry!  I can’t afford to buy a REAL ONE! HELLLOOO!  hehehe.  i was shopping in a new area of town and this bag caught my eye.  I cannot resist.  Resistance is futile.

After Simpatico closed almost 2 weeks ago, I haven’t been in the knitting mojo mood.  I guess that is my way of mourning.  But i think i’ve got my mojo back.  I started working on my doily shawl again and when i started it..i had a feeling i wasn’t doing something right.  But the numbers made sense…so i kept on trucking.  tonight Janice saw what i did so far (i did like 15 rows today) and she said “HEY WHAT HAPPENED?  that’s off!”  I KNEW IT!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!  i’m lucky i had a life line in!  so i had to rip back 20 rows.  GRRRRRRR!  now i have to figure out where i screwed up!!  BOOOOO!!!  I almost wanted to rip the whole thing out and start totally over.  But i came to my senses   if i didn’t have that life line, i think i would be dead right now.  I guess that’s why they call it a lifeline.

What else am i working on?  In the midst of cleaning up, i found a long-lost project that I had promised to my friend months ago.  It’s been found and will be finished in a matter of days.  a lovely pair of cotton socks that just need another inch on the cuffs and then…TA DA!

I have a long long list of other things I need/want to do.  I owe 2 people a pair of socks.   hehehe.  im not naming names b/c i’m embarrassed that I haven’t made them yet.  And i got invited to another baby shower at the end of the month.  I”m thinking…EZ February sweater again?  maybe.  i’m thinking it’s time to branch out and try something else.

I got my Wee Tiny Sock in the mail yesterday.   My pal was so awesome!  Her name is Christene and she sent me the most adorable sock w/ some cute stitch markers to boot!  man..i am a lousy sock swap pal.  i didn’t give jack other than the wee tiny sock!

I apologize for the crappy lighting.  My lightbox hasn’t been set up yet.  I miss it …i need to hurry with that. hahahaha

So I tested my friend’s crochet sock pattern last week.  I turned the heel and no problems.  well, i have ONE problem.  the freaking thing is so dense and tight.  I do’nt think i can put my foot into it. hAHAHAH.   So i’m going to re-do it w/ NORMAL sock yarn.

I went to DFW Fiber Fest on Saturday morning after I was done w/ work at an amazingly early hour.  Me deciding to go was a last minute thing.  And of course, I found plenty of Madeline Tosh and Brooks Farm and Koigu (From SWAK) to buy.  i spent too much money.  i almost walked away with a spinning wheel.  but i resisted.  of course now i regret not getting it b/c i heard today those wheels are going up $120.  sigh.  oh well.  it’s not like I spin THAT much anyway.  but it makes me wonder if I get a better wheel if i would.  OH anyway…the damage I did wasn’t great, but i did better than I could have done. HAHAHAH  i’ll take pics of my haul later.

So late last night, Sassy was sitting near me and my desk and being very very cute.  I grabbed my camera and caught some precious Sassy moments.

ANYWAY…………………… 

I found more bags this week while packing up! HAHAHA! Here is a good one!

So this is yet another lunch bag. Why do I have so many lunch bags when I never take my lunch? Im’ not sure. I do want to take my lunches to work with me…but I always forget or just don’t feel like it. Plus, who can resist this bag? it’s so freaggin’ cute!! heehe. I do plan on starting to take my lunches w/ me a couple of times a week. Eating out is so bad and so expensive. Food at the cafeteria at work is always not awesome, but i always get sucked in b/c it’s easy and cheap. Who knew hospital cafeteria food is bad for you? go figure.

So this week i moved into my new home. I’m still cleaning out the old place, but i’ve spent a couple of nights here now and i’m very happy here. I brought in Sassy last night. She was a bit freaked out (rightly so) b/c she was no longer in her domain. But she adjusts pretty fast. She loves the new couch.

Doesn’t she look happy? I’ve only seen her lay around like this on the floor. I’ve never ever seen her lay on furniture like this. I guess she approves. I just wanna rub that furry belly!!

So b/c of all the moving, I got behind on a couple of things.

#1) Wee Tiny SOck Swap. I was very bad and didn’t get mine sent off until today….2 days later! But I emailed my person and she was very understanding. Thank you so much!

I used leftovers from my Olympic Socks. I love the citrus-y colors. I’m not digging the toe I did on this sock though. ti’s a bit too…well, it looks like a nipple!

#2) I promised my friend Pat the Tat (blogless) that I would test a crochet sock pattern for her b/c she is teaching a class in it at DFW Fiber Fest. I’m working on turning the heel now and so far so good! it’s really wierd making a sock this way. hahaha. But the pattern is written for a Size E hook on regular sock yarn. Well, stupid me…i grabbed just some random skein of Regia I had laying around. It’s 6-ply. This shizz is so dense, it’s bulletproof. HAHAHA

I’ll post yarn info on it later when I find my ballband again

I think I’ve worn myself out finally.

Anniversary:

I realized today it’s been a year and a couple days since I got my tonsils taken out last year. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. I felt like all that just happened. hehehe. i still think about how i had a bleeding episode 10 days after the surgery. if there is someone who will be the small percentage that something bad will happen to, it’s me. but the benefits have outweighed the bad stuff… it was well worth it.

Sadness:

Simpatico closed its doors late last night. I’m sad, but I’m also excited for the new life that Maryjane is going to start for herself. Everything happens for a reason. And things can only go up from here. I think I’m deliriously optimistic right now because all my peeps are being so mopey and sad. hahaha. Maybe i’m still too numb. who knows. i’ve got too much going on this week. hahaha.

I haven’t knit a stitch since Weds. But i did start a crocheted sock today. Pat C. asked me to be a tester for her sock pattern. hehehe. I’ll post pics of the toe later. I should have been packing. sigh.

My beloved LYS Simpatico Yarns is closing its doors tomorrow after being in business for almost 8 years.
This was a very sudden and necessary decision made by shop owner Maryjane. I can’t imagine what is going through her head and her heart right now.  I just want to put my arms around her, hug, and cry with her.
I’m usually a big cry baby…but i was so numb about the news I really couldn’t cry or be upset.  The reality of it hit me pretty hard today when I was talking to one of the friends I have made there and she started crying on the phone when I told her the bad news.   I can’t help but feel like i’ve lost something very special.
I’ve made some very good friends through this shop…lifelong friends.  This shop was like a second home to me.  Although I am sad that I will not be able to just drop in and hang out, I am confident that those of us who formed those strong friendships will continue to see each other often and still be good friends.   We’ll meet up, laugh it up, knit, eat lots of good food (always!), and just enjoy each other’s company.

Thank you, Maryjane for making such a wonderful store for us.  Without your hospitality and kindness, it wouldn’t have been the special place that it was.
